Energy prices add another layer. The same governments that push aggressive decarbonization also helped drive energy costs higher through sanctions, market design, and reliance on unstable suppliers. That makes running or installing air conditioning harder for working families.

The future path: more heat, older people, and choices that still matter

Demographics add to the problem. Europe is aging fast.
